This has become a point of contention for some. Do you think that this hinders your experience on RP by letting one know you are viewing their profile? I am a bit scared why 1SG Private RallyPoint Member is looking at my profile so much.

From my vantage point, its all about time spent on Rally Point. The more time spent, comments made, etc. the more your profile will be viewed.

CPT Private RallyPoint Member I noticed that same perhaps a very short time back, but when I saw the count, I think the count came from when I first created an account. I however to make you feel better have a lesser count then you.
Now I look at other profiles for the purpose of seeing what they did, what units they been too, how long they served and where they stand on profile completion. In a sense I'm looking to perhaps rejoin with those SM whom were active during my time period at the same units. So far that count is : 0

I would image my profile is being looked at for perhaps the same reasons, but remember I said I image which may not be a fact. Facts are I really don't know why anyone would want to look at a very handsome looking veteran like me, with a very impressive and I mean highly impressive military and civilian record like mines :)

I find this feature incredibly creepy. I do NOT want to know who has viewed my profile and I do NOT want others to know when I have stopped by. I happen to click on profiles often for various reasons and I don't want it broadcast. Most of the time I am simply trying to familiarize myself with someone, and if I choose not to reach out to them I don't want it to be turned into an offense, I don't want to feel obligated into becoming friends with every profile I view.

CPT Private RallyPoint Member I don't much pay attention to those things to derive my sense of significance. For me it's just an amusing anecdote. I looked and don't see where that is displayed. Perhaps as an Administrator, that info is available to you.

A hot looking female is going to get a whole bunch more profile views than a sharp dressed man such as yourself. Don't worry about catching SSG V. Michelle Woods Ain't gonna happen! : )~

I'm not sure I'm a fan. If the same person looks at my profile 5 times in the same day...and then doesn't contact me, comment, or anything...WTF? I would rather not know. And I'm not sure I should be getting points for views from the same person.

It has created a whole different sense of paranoia. CW3 Dylan E. Raymond, PHR looked at my profile. He's an HR recruiter...cool! But no contact. Now I'm sitting here thinking I need to make changes or something.

Doesn't bother me for someone to know I've looked at their profile. Many times, though, I'm on my phone and accidentally hit the link to their name. Now, when that happens five or six times in a row, I'm kind of like, oops.

Because if I'm stalking you, I'd give ya at least a head's up.

Facebook has kind of jaded many of us on the whole "profile" thing.

Sir I personally don't see anything wrong with it. However with the unlimited thumbs we had before, which was great, it was down sized to 25 per day because it was being brought up to many times. On the profile view I'm not up to date with how many views a single member can see another members profile, but if its unlimited, perhaps that may turn out to be limited too if it turns out to be a big deal. The thumbs up was limited because people were not able to catch up on points.

As of today, you can make it so that others can't see you viewed their profile. On a desktop, go to your Settings page (http://www.rallypoint.com/settings) and at the bottom under Site Settings, turn off "See who's viewed my profile"

By turning this off, others won't see that you viewed their profile, and you won't see who viewed your profile. Seems fair, right?

In this case I think I'd be contacting SFC Gilley and asking whats up. That is a bunch. I look at peoples profile once in a while, if that wasn't ok, we wouldn't have them. That is excessive. Honestly, Id like to know when someone looks at it rather than have a stalker (like you aparently LT) and not know about it. Also in this case, If your both active this might be a bit out of line professionaly.

Some people are local and I'd like to know more and maybe start a friendship outside RP. Other people are similar MOS's and yet others have responces that are always so close to how I'm thinking I'd like to know a bit more about them. Thats why I look sometimes. I also have a bad memory any more so I might take a second peek.

Or maybe the SFC is just trying to up your profile points for ya.

It is really easy to click a person's name when you actually are trying to click on the topic. I accidentally view profiles all the time - especially on the mobile app.

I don't really look at peoples profiles. The only important things I need to know when I am in discussion with someone is their rank and mos, which I can hover over their name and get. On the flipside, multiple people have been looking at my profile every day lately. I used to get no views, now I have a bunch.

If I didn't want someone to know I looked (or repeatedly viewed) their profile I would go there anyway... I have nothing to hide. Plus I put the information there for people to see, and its nice to know people actually look at it... that's the whole point of networking...

First Lieutenant Rosa,

Being able to specifically see who has viewed your RallyPoint profile echoes to how LinkedIn works as well: You can see who has recently viewed your LinkedIn profile. I find that this feature can be, both, beneficial as well as concerning. It's beneficial, because a user can see who exactly viewed their profile, and then can proceed to communicate with that user, especially if they share anything in common. On the other hand and as how you described, this feature can be worrisome, especially if the same user repeatedly views your profile numerous times, which can "block out" any notifications of any other user(s) who may have recently viewed your profile.

I would like to add a caveat to my response to this poll, however. The feature to see who specifically viewed your RallyPoint profile should be optional and left to the choice of the individual user. I am certain that some users would like to see who viewed their profile, while on the other hand, some users may be indifferent, or might be concerned that the same individual is monitoring their RallyPoint profile.

I am personally indifferent to the issue, as anything that I choose to share online is fair game to be viewed by everyone.

My issue isn't so much the profile viewing, as that its incorporation into the Android application for the site seems to randomly let me read a post, while other times rather than going to the post it goes to the person's profile and seems to loop there (back out doesn't work literally have to restart RP).
If you have the title "hiring manager" (or perhaps "Federal Investigator"....?) I care how you perceive my profile. Otherwise I could care less so long as people see just enough that they can look me up, without posting a lot of stuff. I still remember when everyone got their Peepees smacked over a certain other military social site, that ended up being run by Germans

There were a allot of profiles i looked at to get an idea of how to fill out my profile i figured looking at a a bunch of different ones would help give me a starting place. It does not bother me to see who looks at my page. But CPT Private RallyPoint Member it .looks like you are getting stalked lol.

I'm OK with it. I don't mind people looking at my profile. If I did, I wouldn't fill it out.

I do have a "technical" issue, though. There are numerous times on the phone app when I'm trying to scroll up or down, and suddenly find out I'm viewing "SFC Bob Schmuckatelli"... Could we make it more deliberate so I don't look like a Creeper?

I have on a few occasions had a need to go back and check a point of fact of a member on RP just to be sure I was not in ignorance spreading false information. Just a reason for some of my returns to those of you I have visited on more than one occasion.

I don't think that people mean to view profiles that much, lol. I can't tell you how many times I'm scrolling through comments on a thread and my iPhone takes me to a random profile because I tapped the screen wrong. It's really kind of finicky.

I'm not entirely clear on why we get points for people viewing our profile in the first place. I'm a big fan of having a complete profile, but it should be a means to an end (helping to connect to people) rather than being considered an end in and of itself.

I stalk people who don't have a Blue Ribbon yet in order to see if the member's profile merits one. Other than that, I don't really view profiles and don't care to know if they've viewed mine.

I think that the new "Don't see who's viewed me" feature doesn't work. I unchecked that box in my settings, but I'm still getting several notifications per day when people view me.

I don't have a problem with it. RP gives you the option to limit how much people can see if they're not connected with you, so you still have some level of privacy.

I ignore it- it seems that some folks just have to know if you know what you are talking about- especially if it doesn't go with the flow.
