Race Recap - Marine Corps Marathon Series - Historic Half 2015 - 5/17/15 https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/race-recap-marine-corps-marathon-series-historic-half-2015-5-17-15

The wife and I had the opportunity to run this race today (3rd time). It is part of the Marine Corps Marathon Series, and usually takes place during May.

It was a hot day for running at about 70deg (start time), and 77deg (finish time).

The course is far from flat, but it's all paved. It culminates at "Hospital Hill" (mile 10) with a 1~ mile uphill. Something special this year was the folks at Wear Blue to Remember had out a memorial section. There were perhaps 40 of our Fallen with Photos, followed by 40 Flags with Battle Streamers (Mourning Bands with Fallen Names).

As the wife and I approached, we caught up to Sid Busch, a 69 year old Navy vet, who carries Old Glory on all his runs. At each Memorial, he stopped, and rendered Honors to the Fallen.

We first ran into Sid way back on my wife's first Marine Corps Marathon. She was the last one over the Bridge (Beat the Bridge is the "hard cutoff") and she got to run with Old Glory, and one of favorite photos of her is that shot. He does great for vets and the running community at large.

https://www.facebook.com/laura.finney.75/videos/ [login to see] 304463/

http://www.wearblueruntoremember.org/

But if you get the chance, watch the video, and check out the guys over at Wear Blue. I don't usually promote, but I'm making an exception this time. They earned it.

Laura Finn | Facebook

Marine Corps Historic Half blue Mile

Sun, 17 May 2015 15:44:10 -0400 Race Recap - Marine Corps Marathon Series - Historic Half 2015 - 5/17/15 https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/race-recap-marine-corps-marathon-series-historic-half-2015-5-17-15

The wife and I had the opportunity to run this race today (3rd time).
