RallyPoint Dining In. Who's down, and where should it be?

Ok there's obviously some dedicated RP'ers.  (by the way what do we call ourselves?)  I think we should start planning for a year out to have a dining in and get to know each other face to face.<div>Who knows we could even knock out a PT test, and salute some 2LT's.  SSG Williams and I will be at the table debating religion.  I'm sure I'd end up in a drunken argument (if I drank) with MSG Quick over the proper way to lace up boots or something else just as important.</div><div>Anyway I'd love to actually meet all you guys and have some fun.</div>

I couldn't compete in a PT today.  It seems far fetched, but as with my motorcycle group - Bring it, don't just sing it.  You own it now son!<div><br></div><div>BTW - all the suggestions for an active post are great, but many of us are no longer in the military.  Unless you want to gain approval all the way up the chain for hosting an event on-base, I would look to a BRAC'ed post where access is not an issue.</div>

I vote for Ft Sam as the San Antonio area has much to offer and plenty of sites for family to share and visit or DC for the same reasons, but I think the SA area would be much more affordable and accommodating for family or singles for pricing and availability.

Why not Fort Bragg? Its large and nearby. Fort Leavenworth is also middle of the country. And San Antonio is of course beautiful.

I'm sure there is a way to make it PTDY Military Networking/Professional Development conference. I've been to plenty of pointless (this is really paid for by the military?) PTDY's before. There's got to be a way to make it happen, and I'm sure there's a RP Member who knows just how.

Having read through the long list of responses, I have to say that while I like the Hawaii idea, it is out. I do love the fact that we may have to finish up a course, or leave religion, rank, and feelings that have been bruised at the house! If you are going to do this, you will need to decide just how formal to go.

It will take some work to get it set up, and you will never please everyone. Spouses or no spouses? Uniforms of Class A or better? Lots of decisions. My recommendation would be to find a large hotel that has a BAR! And make it a formal occasion.

I have a feeling it would be seriously fun, and with all the different services and experiences, hard to replicate.

Well I was thinking more of New York City (Manhattan (The Big Apple)), we can see the WTC site and look at the new building that's getting build. Visit the Empire State Building, then the statue of liberty, visit Broadway and time square.

It'd have to be a regional thing! Would love to go to Hawaii or DC, or where ever, Money constraints would limit alot of the National Guard Peeps that have to bust our Butts to get drill off, let alone an extra weekend or a week. It would also have to be like SMG Poll stated after my deployment!

This is a great idea- plan a year out and we can all coordinate schedules, etc. What about holding it in Missouri or Kentucky (Knox?)? That seems to be relatively central to 90% of America.

I would be more down than a morbidly obese soldier who just ran his 2 mile APFT for record.

I prefer the term Point man, or Point men. The point man in the patrol designates the in route Rally Points for the moving element. It sounds cool too. Can you plan this before September. I have to take a trip across the pond for a bit.
