What regulation covers having your hands in your pockets?

Hands in the pocket. It's there actually policy, regulation, or other means of controlling this. Or is this just some salty 1sg, CSM, OR SFC. Saying back in my day....

Well............. I just looked a 670-1 (version Jan 2021) and didn't find anything that explicitly gives guidance on hands in pockets. Internet stuff I found says inclement weather is OK but I didn't see that in 670-1. 670-1 prevails.

Now, where I think a CSM is going to get you if you push back on him is
1) I didn't find anything supporting hands in pockets is OK
2) There are regulation gloves that are authorized if warmth is your concern
3) What I found over and over and over and over again in 670-1 is that pockets will be closed at all times, and it was repeated for every single permutation of uniform when it covered pockets.

What? You don't have AR 670-1 memorized? Thought that was required for the E5 board! 8)

"No hands in pockets" has been part of the Army's uniform regulation during my entire career and I assume long before that as well (would have to pull out prior uniform regulations to check)

Have you already looked up the order pertaining to the proper wear and use of the Uniform?

AR 670-1. 3-6, A (4). Page 15.

It clearly states:
“4) While in uniform, personnel will not place their hands in their pockets, except momentarily to place or retrieve objects”

You need to know this stuff. Every branch has a similair order stating similair requirements. It took me 5 minutes to find it
