To assert dominance in the name of Hussein is to attempt to subjugate the area to Shia.<br />They knew exactly what they were doing. They draw arbitrary lines on a map and declare that everyone inside of each section are now citizens of a sovereign nation and should share common interests. Idiots. Not the people inside the lines. The ones who drew them. The only possible "fix" for that region of the world is to allow the various groups to sort themselves out (allow birds of a feather to flock together) and then allow their borders to draw themselves. We talk about it a lot and act like we're educated on the subject but then we act so surprised when we see tribal nepotism and we see tribes aligned along sectarian lines put the health of their tribe above the health of their nation. This is simple---they're fighting for their tribes; the sheik calls the side and the boys line up. There's a reason many AQ members called Bin Laden the Sheik.
