I am also "All In" on this. I know the Supreme Court has ruled that the burning of the American flag is covered under freedom of speech, but don't people who burn the flag realize that the flag represents their right to freedom of speech?

Absolutely not. I am as patriotic and proud as the next brother or sister on here, and as much as it burns me to see fellow citizens burning our flag, the 1st amendment absolutely gives them the right to do so. freedom of speech, and freedom of expression is for everyone. not just people we agree with - it's easy to support it when we all agree with someones speech or expression, quite another to support it when we disagree, yet that is exactly what the intent of it is, to protect those we disagree with from persecution. Especially from the Government. We took oaths to support and defend the Constitution, first and foremost, before all other loyalties, to include POTUS, It is why it is the very first thing we swear to, and to obey POTUS second. I have defended President Trump for a lot of things, because they were constitutional, questionable at times, but absolutely within his constitutional powers, granted by congress. This is not, and I will oppose it using whatever legal means are required.

What it comes down to is knowledge and life experiences. I would like to ask people who are using flag burning as activism if they have ever seen a killed-in-action soldier’s casket come home from overseas. Have they witnessed the casket coming off the plane with an American flag draped over it, as the family stands there wishing they could see their son or daughter one last time? Have they been to a military funeral when a folded American flag is handed to a mother who just had to bury her child? Have they watched a widow try to explain to her child why Dad isn’t coming home? Imagine going up to that parent or widow and telling them you want to burn that flag to protest a president you don’t particularly like. You want to take that flag, which now represents their dead child or spouse, and burn it. You want to burn that flag and openly protest because of rights their dead child/spouse, and others like them fought to protect.

I think the Supreme Court already ruled on this before. This seems like a bit of a slippery slope to me.

Sorry, but people's rights mean more than a piece of cloth. What the flag represents to some, isn't what it means to others. But we all swore oath's to protect people's rights and freedoms, and the government has clearly made burning the flag a right of the people to do so if they so please.

The flag and the national anthem are not about the president. They are a reminder to us of what we and those who came before us did to make this country what it is today. It's about a nation, the youngest in the world, who grew up fast and proved that it was worthy. Sure we had hick-ups and potholes in the road but we have done our damnedest to fill them in. The flag and the anthem are not about the 1% who hate everything but about the 99% who strive to make it the place to be.

Well I have read a lot of the responds, and this is what I believe that everyone is forgetting about American flag. Now for a little back ground here. I served for 21 years, have been around the block a couple of times, and I have always been taught that our flag is a living thing. So my question is this if our flag is consider a living thing and someone disgraces it! Then that individual should been punished in someway. IE prison, huge fines, and what I really would like to point out is you go to other countries and get caught doing it you could be dead. ANYWAY THIS IS HOW I FEEL IF YOU WANT TO BURN THE FLAG DO ME THE FAVOR OF WRAPPING YOURSELF IN FIRST THANK YOU ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
