Should Colin Powell run for President?

If Colin Powell was to run for president, would you vote for him? Why or why not.

PVT Private RallyPoint Member at one time I thought he would make a good candidate, but after his work with President Bush and the lack of verification on WMD and Iraq I don't think I would today. If he would have stuck with his gut and pushed back or even resigned when he didn't think there was undisputable human intelligence and information I would probably be a big fan. Of course, we were lacing in the area of good solid human intelligence at that time period as well. That is a controversial call and some of my RP members not agree. I look forward to their feedback.

Exceptional individual that Gen/Sec Powell is, I would still need to see his positions on the issues before voting for him.

I would of voted for him 8-16 years ago but now I don't know what kind of political influence he has now. I haven't heard much of or from him in awhile. I've read two books about him and I think that he has a truly superior Military mind especially from the planning and strategy standpoint if he would of ran before Pres Clinton, Pres GW or Pres Obama, he would of had a chance to win.

That ship has sailed. I think he's a truly moderate voice and a great leader, but he has too much baggage now. I don't think he wants it anyway.

My vote is 'yes', but with the understanding that Gen. Powell has no desire to do so.
