Your uniform is a connection between your and your grandfathers service. Wearing the uniform does not draw attention to you, and you don't wear it to highlight yourself. The reason you wear it is to show that your grandfather was part of something bigger than himself, and that his service made him part of a group that continues his service to this day. Your uniform shows that his service was not in vain, and that because of people like him people continue to serve in the same fields. The results of his service will continue to bear fruit, and by wearing your uniform you are a part of this.Response by Marcus Kesler made Jan 30 at 2021 11:28 AM2021-01-30T11:28:04-05:002021-01-30T11:28:04-05:00Sgt Private RallyPoint Member6706023

PFC Private RallyPoint Member Wear your dress uniform and honor your grandfather.Response by Sgt Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 30 at 2021 12:01 PM2021-01-30T12:01:17-05:002021-01-30T12:01:17-05:001LT Private RallyPoint Member6706236

I’m sure your grandfather would be nice extremely proud of you. If it is, then in my opinion, ASU's would NOT be appropriate. When my Grandfather passed, I wore Dress Greens. Likewise with a WW2 uncle. Considering his remarkable 43 years of service, it seems fitting to pay tribute in this manner. However, it's also important to consider what feels most comfortable and appropriate for you.
Reflecting on my own thoughts about funerals, I've contemplated arrangements in advance, leaning towards the simplicity of direct cremation https://newrestfunerals.co.uk/ to alleviate any stress or decisions for my loved ones in the future.
