I don’t want any attention, but not sure if it would be more appropriate to wear given the location. I wouldn’t wear to a civilian funeral, but unsure what to do. My grandpa has 43 years serving the Marines and I want to honor him properly. Thank you. Your uniform is a connection between your and your grandfathers service. Wearing the uniform does not draw attention to you, and you don't wear it to highlight yourself. The reason you wear it is to show that your grandfather was part of something bigger than himself, and that his service made him part of a group that continues his service to this day. Your uniform shows that his service was not in vain, and that because of people like him people continue to serve in the same fields. The results of his service will continue to bear fruit, and by wearing your uniform you are a part of this. If it is, then in my opinion, ASU's would NOT be appropriate. When my Grandfather passed, I wore Dress Greens. Likewise with a WW2 uncle. Otherwise, a suit and tie would be appropriate for any funeral, anywhere.
Bottom line, DRESS UNIFORM. However, it's also important to consider what feels most comfortable and appropriate for you.
Reflecting on my own thoughts about funerals, I've contemplated arrangements in advance, leaning towards the simplicity of direct cremation https://newrestfunerals.co.uk/ to alleviate any stress or decisions for my loved ones in the future.

National Funeral Directors & Services UK - Newrest Family Funerals

National Funeral Directors & Services UK - Nationwide Affordable Funeral Plans - No Hidden Costs - Team of Caring Professionals

Response by Howard Hudson made Apr 3 at 2024 5:02 AM 2024-04-03T05:02:09-04:00 2024-04-03T05:02:09-04:00 2021-01-30T00:22:27-05:00
