Should officers have a board like best warrior competition?

There is a best warrior competition with categories for enlisted and NCOs. Should there be a board for officers to compete?

My personal belief is that officers should be focused on other matters, although you do bring up an interesting question.

Good question. It might be beneficial by branch/functional area in the combat arms arena. Not sure it would benefit WOs or other Os. Some branches have traditional incentive awards and honors for their contributions above and beyond.

Absolutely, Sir. Only instead of being called a board, it should be called a match, and the warriors should compete on a swath of green in plaid shorts using only metal clubs as weapons and little white, dimpled balls as ammo. I'm all for it!

I think having a company and field grade competitions would be awesome. I know some pretty hard core officers that hella competitive! I would volunteer to set up and run the lanes!!!

Would it enhance or distract from the mission?

My gut tells me it would be a distraction.

On the enlisted side, boards & "matches" are generally specifically tailored to a very narrow purpose, with a very specific goal. These enhance the mission, rather than detract from it.

On the Officer side, I think the opposite would hold true.

Again, this is just a gut reaction, and I think it comes from the Officer corps being so much smaller than the Enlisted side. I don't think the pros are going to outweigh the cons.

Have a playoff of sorts. Officer conference vs enlisted conference. Not sure who the War-Ants would pay for though. They are a hybrid breed
