Special Forces Soldier Sends Letter to American Politicians

This letter was sent out to American Politicians by a Special Forces Soldier. In it he expresses a lot of the frustration by many members of the military and also a lot of American citizens. It seems to me this is something that they needed to hear. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

this is a grenade of a topic. Although I share in some of his sentiments as Active Duty we can't dictate to our civilian leadership or tell them how ate the F**k up they may be.

CPT Ahmed Faried How correct you are in the assessment that the military (AD) cannot dictate to our civilian leadership. There IS a method to do get that message through the chain of command to our civilian leadership - but in my years I've never seen it utilized because the higher up the chain the greater the 'fear for my career'.

Our senior military leadership should be ready to stand up and make a statement on what they believe is the right thing to do. If civilian leadership disagrees and orders the military to carry out it's orders then our military leadership has two choices - carry out those orders or resign. Fortunately, our civilian leadership has wisely and frequently listened to our senior military leadership's counsel and thus few of our senior leadership have felt the need to resign in protest.

Probably the best thing I have read in a long time. And I 100% agree with everything that he put down. I have been in the fight since the beginning and I am here at the closing of this clown show in Afghan. It is time to unleash the Hounds of War!

That is why I say screw the smart bombs and targeted attacks. And load up our bombers fully with dumb bombs and carpet bomb them to hell.

It was President Theodore Roosevelt that said, "Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick." That statement is true today if you want the world to see that you mean business. The pen has never won wars. Words have never won wars. Action, and the determination to see it thru has.

The tenor of this letter reminds me of what I have read about Vietnam and how our service members felt afterward. Wars run by politics and not fighting members are soon mired in vacant promises and half truths.
