I have not been this excited for a sequel in so long.

The Star Trek reboot is GOOD. It captures the attitude of Kirk/Spock, keeps it a little campy, but makes it a little more "actiony" but also throws just enough twists to make things new and exciting.

Potter was a great rendition, and I thought it did justice to the books, but it's a closed series.

And Lord of the Rings was was the best and worst it could possibly be, in my opinion. I would pick all of these excluding Harry Potter. Harry Potter doesn't put hair on your chest the way the rest of them (were meant to) do. However since I have to pick it would be Star Wars, with James bond being a close second, if not equal.

Why Star Wars is awesome: Sci-fi with high fantasy elements (the Force), and plenty of action. It's a Space version of WWII if say Nazi Germany was to win, and we all create an insurgency to eventually defeat it. Plus the compelling story of Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, and how his son Luke becomes his salvation. Also, who doesn't want a light saber, and a Yoda?

Why James Bond is Awesome: He's a fearless, dangerous sex machine who risks all for Queen and Country. Always places the mission first, even when he's sipping a dry martini (shaken, not stirred) at the casino. He gets unlimited ammunition, women, money, sex, cars, and high tech toys. All of which he senselessly and generously expends to his advantage, and what's great about it is he don't give a ****.

As for the rest LOTR is great, though I'm not too into it. While certain 007 films do contain elements of sci-fi (especially "Moonraker"), it's the most realistic series of the bunch and therefore the easiest for me to relate to personally; while I don't own a light saber or phaser nor do I possess magical powers, I most certainly can and do (1) drink vodka martinis, "shaken, not stirred," (2) own and fire a Walther PPK 7.65mm (.32 ACP), and (3) travel around the world on official business. :-) Response by Capt Christian D. They are all spectacular in their own way. I was a Star Trek fan first due to my age. I was ten when Star Wars came out. Wow!!!! I seen it ten times within a month, and have of course followed it since. I read Lord of the Rings in 7th grade. Big fan. When the recent movie franchise for the two stories came out, it was worth the years of wIting to see it come to life with the technology of today's movies. Bond was always a kick ass loner. Unique to himself. So, I can't choose, can't vote. Harry Potter was okay, but was for a younger generation by time I caught on to it. The first one has to be Star Wars , with episodes 4,5&6 being the best. Then there is lotr, or lord of the rings for those who don't know what lotr means. Then lastly marvels avengers including all the movies that are intertwined with it. I. E Captain America,Thor, Iron man. Not only because these movies are my 4 yo son's favorite, but because they are ba. So there you have it. My opinion of the best movie franchises. There's definitely a few more that I could post about( like Transformers and several others but I'll save that for another day. Great topic rally point! Thanks for letting me post my opinions( even if anyone could care less) but it makes me feel like I'm socializing a little bit. Which is something I don't do very often. In person or on the crazy world of the Internet. Have a blessed day all. And God speed! For the film franchise the original trilogy set the standard for sci films. While I am a fan of Star Trek also the TV show is what that franchise is about. Although the Next Generation and new movies are very good. James Bond was another favorite and as said before me on the thread it has been going on for quite some time and I think has lost some of the mystery it used to have. Harry potter and Tolkien again while both great movies should be taken in book form to get the whole story.
