By the time I was seriously getting into Michael Crichton books (about my 5th or 6th) he finally succumbed to cancer. I literally just started reading the DiscWorld series last Friday, got to book 5 and the day I get into the 5th book, the Author dies. And it's a crying shame because the man was brilliant, witty, and had a wonderfully sardonic sense of humor that I had personally fallen in love with before I'd even finished the first chapter of The Color of Magic.

I'm sorry he had had to go just as I finally got around to meeting him, but I am grateful that he wrote as much as he did. He made the world a brighter place, so we'd be a bit more willing to do whatever is necessary to defend it.

Godspeed Sir Prachett. I always liked Terry Pratchett's writing. It is never fun to have a favored author pass away in the middle of a series. I experienced that with Robert Jordan, you feel bad but you wish they'd finished their work too! I have read most of his works, and all of the Discworld novels. As a Satirist, he is amazing, and his insights strike true so often.

Just remember, you are not truly dead as long as your name is still spoken.

GNU Terry Pratchett. (This meaning will become more apparent when you get deeper in teh series).
