I’m familiar with the good folks at the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System and use their services all the time. My primary care provider is a physician at the Shavano Park VA Clinic, my neurologists who treat my Parkinson’s have their offices at the Audie Murphy Memorial VA Hospital, my dental care is provided by dentists at the Va Dental Clinic in San Antonio and my prescription meds are provided by the VA Pharmacy in San Antonio, who send me meds by USPS mail to my home. They’re all very professional and responsive to my needs. I have only good things to say about them.

I served 11 years as a Army National Guard Member, and 1 year Active Duty for Army Branch. I have tinnitis and sensoringual hearing loss, I have seen VA and they diagnosed as well as my Dr., to having this. So I don't understand why VA, says I don't qualify for any disability, being I only served 1 year Active Duty. So does serving the 11 years in Texas Army National GUARD not even matter? So they make it sound like ARMY National Guard, doesn't have soldiers get disabilities.

How come the reimbursement for travel is not sufficient for those who use public transportation, currently it's $2.50 each way to dialysis, now they're informing us it is going up to $5 each way, the VA only provides $2.16 for the total trip. What is the VA doing to fix the issues in VBA. I waited 11 years of NODs, then BVA remand my 6 NODs to correct their errors, but of the 6 one got another NOD again while the others were service connected. This tells me that they were not doing the job that they were supposed to do.

I've 2 questions:
1) When will we get qualified (and quality) doctors at the Charles Wilson Outpatient Clinic in Lufkin?
Don't get me wrong, the Nurse Practicioners I've been working with are simply great, and I greatly respect and trust them.
However, over the couple decades working with the clinic, the MH departemnt can't ever seem to keep any qualified doctors - they last a year or so, and leave. And have always been very shorthanded. Now my Primary Care doctor has retired as well, and they can't seem to ever find any replacements.
Budgeting? Internal issues that keep driving them away? (rhetorical, I suppose)

2) What must I do as a Veteran to get timely Care in the Community appointments?
I've been fighting (yes, it certainly feels like a protracted war) with the VA since March to obtain care for neck issues (spinal). It's been dragged out, delayed, with many an excuse. And no few instances of outright incompetance. I'm always told I MUST drive the 3 hours to Houston (and 5-7 to get home, due to traffic) to see the specialists. And that the Care in the Community department has 3 weeks to process any claim (which they use every day of). Appointments are made 2 hours away in other cities, requireng that to be contested (adding another 3 weeks), only to find out months later that all the doctors and clinics I requested to be sent to are already in the 'approved' VA database and 'in network'.
Phones that ring for 30 minutes (timed), with no answer.
Messages left, with never a call back.
Hospitals call for over a week, requesting forms to process requests for further care (therapy, pain management), and cannot get anyone to answer the phone or return their calls, either.

I asked the question of one of the Care in the Community Managers of "if the point was to speed up appointment times over 30 days, and drive times over 60 miles, what good does it do if YOU take up 21 days of that time, plus additional time for the doctor I'm to see? And if you schedule appointments 2-3 hours away from where I live?"

Again, perhaps a rhetorical question, which she also seemed unable to answer.

How does one attempt to fight a VA Disability Claim when original Medical, Dental & 201 Records and File was lost by Army personnel during my AIT training. This was even noted by the next station I showed up to as they had to create new records. My back, neck and knees were injured (went to sick call several times) in Basic Training, and now I have nothing to service connect. Can't proof of the documentation showing records was lost aid in my fight? What does a person like me do? That was in 1992. Today, I have a TKR (right knee) and debilitating back and neck issues. I was also one that refrained from going to Dr. because I was told that it would be frowned upon by Sr. personnel for promotion and to "suck it up." Plus as a female, I needed to not complain. Any direction information would be greatly appreciated.

I am 100% permanently and totally disabled. DOD/DA engaged in medical negligence/malpractice. President Trump passed a law back on DEC 2019 for service members to be able to file tort claims against DOD. How long does it takes for DOD to implement a program to follow the established laws?

If I am not able to work, am I not entitled to unemployability benefits?

Also, I had post 911 educational benefits and they expired on JAN 2021. How can I get those benefits extended as I was not able to start school due to the medical condition?

I am a retired Air Force MSGT. I served for 30 years. I have been fighting with the VA since 2012 about benefits. My last C&P evam was completed for my right knee. I had that same exam done twice. As of today they haven't made a decision, but they did give me service connected with ZERO percent.
I am now at 90% and have applied for TDIU. That was march 25, 2021 (7 months ago) with still no decision. I was told that my claim dated March 25, 2021 is still showing open and assigned to the Seattle Regional Office. I live in Texas and RO should be in Houston. Can somebody please tell me what is going on with the VA decision making process and why everything is taking so long?

All thank you for your service. I have been training to get my DS Logon account validated but I can't get through the verification process because the system can't auto verify me. I spent several hours on the phone on hold and finally reached someone at VA who said since I don't recieve payments from the VA i have drive into Houston and get verified there. That is hard for me and will take at least a half a day. There should be someone I can talk with over the phone to get my account verified. Any help from the VA would be appreciated.

Why can I not get a copy of my C-file? I have sent in many FOIA Requests. The last time the V A closed my FOIA Claim and did not send me my C-file. All the other times I never heard anything. Another question is why are my Claims being denied after I have provided PROOF of illness/disease while in service and provided Nexus letters and other proof of Service Connection. Each time they were denied there is a different excuse. The first few times the V A said I had no complaints or illnesses after I provided Army Hospital Medical Records and follow up treatment while in service and after ETS? Thank you for your time.

Hello. I have served in active duty service for 15 years in the US Army and USMC. After my tour in Iraq, I have transitioned out of the military for a while and have not used any VA services. I receive email and regular mail notices of upcoming VA medical appointments. These do not give any clue as to which doctors or clinics or sometimes locations these appointments are with. Can this system be modified to add the clinic and location to these reminders?

TVC-Certified Peer Service Coordinators located within the local mental health authorities across Texas to create a statewide peer-to-peer network for any service member, veteran, or family member.

The MVPN provides services including:
*direct peer-to-peer support,
*training on suicide prevention and military cultural competency,
*coordination of mental health first aid,

Hello, I’m a 100% P&T veteran. Several years back (prior to my current 100% rating) I had submitted a claim that had been denied service connection. I immediately filed an appeal and it’s now going on 4 years with the Board of Appeals. Does it make sense for me to keep pursuing the denied claim now that I have been rated 100% P&T? How come the VA is not recognizing MST as an injury during inactive duty for training when it states in several places on va.gov that MST is an exception for disability benefits for mental health for a traditional guard veteran.

My question is in regard to caregivers and the way they are treated by VA administrative and medical personnel. My spouse is my caregiver, which means that she is more than just my driver. I need to be reminded to take my medications regularly, and to be monitored for adverse reactions. When medical personnel are explaining the results of tests that have been performed and treatment options based on those tests, my wife needs to be included in the discussion. Recently, on several different occasions with several treatment teams, my wife felt ignored by care providers who only wanted to discuss matters with me as the patient. Caregivers are vital to successful outcomes, especially as more care is performed on an outpatient, telephonic basis. Belittling my caregiver is not good for my
health. Why isn't the VA sending out memos and requiring online training that emphasizes the importance of caregivers, and why isn't there required documentation on the patient chart that puts the caregiver in his or her proper place: right on top of the chart?

Is there anyone to fight for widows, who are able to use their late veteran spouse 100% for property tax purposes, coming from another state. I moved here from Georgia, (my husband passed away in the state of Ga). I received 100% off the property tax, I moved here to Texas, and there is no reciprocity. Not sure, who to ask this question to, but I have been 100 percent VA disabled since around 2014 and have tried three times two with a social security attorney and one without. I have had hearings with three judges in Texas and have been denied social security disability benefits all three times. On my last try the Judge was favorable, however, the medical expert from social security pretty much stated, I was not disabled and it was all in my head. The social security office claims it doesn't matter if the VA rates me as permanitly disabled they will decide without the VA letter supporting their decision. On my last attempt, my psychologist, psychiatrist and local family doctor wrote letters stating my condition kept me from gainful employment. With the VA letter stating I was permanently disabled and unable to work due to my service connected disabilities and three letters from doctors treating me stating I am unable to work due to my medical condition and my wife's testimony in support, I was still denied social security disability. A social security disability attorney stated that texas was the hardest state to get approved for social security disability. Apparently, if you have been out of work for over 10 years, which I have due to my condition, one can not apply for social security disability any more until I build more work credit. So I can't even keep trying. I am so frustrated with the support the Texas social security office gives to permanity disabled veterans. I have no other way or know how to get approved for social security disability. Any help you can provide in this area for a disabled veteran living in Texas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Hi, I have a question about Champ VA insurance and my VA hospital in Houston. I've been blessed with wonderful doctors at this hospital and they told me that if I got Champ VA insurance for my wife , that she would be able to use the hospital facilities and the doctors. So, we applied, but for some reason never received the membership card. When I finally got it, it showed Kim was a member since Oct. 24, 2017. Well, it seems that in April of 2018, the director of the hospital made a ruling that their can not be any new family members coming in using the facilities. I wrote him an email clearly showing that she was already a member BEFORE the change and that I felt she should be "grandfathered" in. He said no and basically told me to find doctors outside the hospital. He basically blew me off. So, my question is, why can't my wife use the VA hospital here in Houston, since she was already a Champ VA member?
