What is that, exactly?Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 30 at 2024 9:11 AM2024-04-30T09:11:15-04:002024-04-30T09:11:15-04:00SSG Roger Ayscue8742458

If you made the request, did you not want to get a favorable reply? And if you do get a favorable reply, would you not go ahead and make a move before they change their minds and send you to guard an Arctic radar site north of Gnack Neck Alaska? Just saying... Remember HRC might be making you a limited time offer.Response by SSG Roger Ayscue made May 1 at 2024 1:20 AM2024-05-01T01:20:25-04:002024-05-01T01:20:25-04:00SFC Birk Ellis8742629

Normally you have seven days from the time the request comes back to make the decision to reenlist.
As a retired CC, it always irked me when a Soldier says that he/she would like to reenlist for something that was not readily available in the RETAIN system and asks to send a hotline to request XYZ reenlistment location only to have said Soldier come back and decide not to reenlist for what they asked for.
At that time, I would always counsel (4856) in writing, that if the reenlistment did not take place based on their "mind change", a cancel would be done and the option would not come back at this reenlistment time.
Example: Soldier says they want Hawaii under E4, Overseas Assignment of Choice, not in RETAIN, send a hotline to request the location. Location gets locked in for Soldier, Soldier then comes back and says that they changed their mind. Option E4 would go away and not come back.Response by SFC Birk Ellis made May 1 at 2024 8:40 AM2024-05-01T08:40:35-04:002024-05-01T08:40:35-04:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member8742675

Over 220 Solders reenlist every duty day, 1,100 a week.
They are not all your MOS and grade, but when HRC comes back with a hotline request or counter offer, what they are offering likely won't be available after a few days.
They are telling you what's available today, they aren't holding an option for you to think it over.
The idea is to first list out every option you are willing to reenlist for, then go in and request it. If an option on your list comes back, you take it. If not, you don't.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made May 1 at 2024 10:13 AM2024-05-01T10:13:17-04:002024-05-01T10:13:17-04:002024-04-30T07:31:21-04:00
