I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. I've seen these guys more times than I can count. That cockpit footage is NUTS. You always kind of figure they look so close together because of the distance...nope, they're really kissing their wingman's wing.

My Great Uncle was one of the LTC Bruce "Hawkeye" Jones USAF 1943-1976 flew with the Thunderbirds for a time... Some great photos from him during those days. If i remember his stories correctly he served in 3 different conflicts. I cant fully remember if he was actually deployed during WW2 or not but i know for sure that he was in Korea and Vietnam... He told me about 17 years ago that the plane that is out in front of the Air Force Academy is his from Vietnam...

when I was a around 10 or so I got to sit in BA 1. It was parked in a private hanger at the Cody,WY airport ,the air show was the next day, and my mom took us out to the tarmac. Luckily, the pilot was still there and gave us a private tour of the plane etc. Wicked awesome. I still went Army though.

I watched the Thunderbirds at Williams AFB, AZ when it was a pilot training base. The comments from the pilot trainees around us were pretty awesome. :)

I live about a mile from a former Air Force base which is now a commercial airport but still has guard units there. Every year they have an air show and alternate between the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds. They practice for days before the show and I can see it all from my yard. Both groups are fantastic!
