Yeah it is "better" for the Octagon or "the ring". But try to pull that MMA shise in real life, when someone is trying to kill you and wearing body armor. See how punching that ACH will work out for ya, not to mention eye pokes, biting, and groin strikes and weapons involved. Also fighting in different environments and being dropped on the concrete, not on the cushioned mat and wearing 60lbs worth of gear is totally different animal.

MMA is fun sport and all, but if someone tries to kill you with a weapon such as knife in the middle of the desert in 120 degree heat, practical combatives training is better choice. If we sent MMA fighters into combat, I highly doubt they would of lasted better than marines trained to be sent into combat, but marines trained in MCMAP might last better than many of MMA fighters in the ring or the street fight.
