So I was happy the day our RDC said that we were out of uniform wearing the recruit hat instead of the NAVY hat. I enjoyed A School in San Diego. I even enjoyed the precomm unit in Pascagoula MS. There were a lot positives. There were also a lot of negatives which I won't talk about. Looking back now, I wish I had made better choices when I was on Active Duty. Still it is a part of what made me who I am today. That I am happy about. Define "Happy". This is a really broad question that can go in a lot of directions. Am I happy I served on Active Duty? Yes I am. Were they all "happy years"? Heck no. But I'm glad I decided to go the Active Duty route for 8 years. Most of us careerists had to have good COs and bad COs, good NCO (PO) leadership and bad leadership. But, when you think back on the 20 years of so, why is it that you remember the good parts first. If I had it to do over, there would be very few things I would change.
