I deployed with a guy who made one of the best chili I ever tasted using ketchup as the base. Took him forever to squeeze enough of those individual ketchup packages into the pot.

The only thing I "cooked" was sweet tea made in the sun. We had it down to a science on how many tea bags and sugar packets per liter bottle. Combine, mix, and set that bad boy in the sun for a day or two and you're set.

Define deployment food. Environment plays a factor. Ration type, most definitely impacts. Multi-national environment can be a big score, especially if you have Gurkhas around you. Their chow is THE stuff. Norway chow? Hope you like fish....in paste form or even bones and all cut in half (heads or tails)...three meals a day.

find the nastiest looking things they were usually the best tasting and mix it all together followed by lots of hot sauce
