Full disclosure: I haven't read either of these but I heard good things and they are on my reading list.

Go to the Long War Journal site... plenty to read and re-read there.. critical info and critical thinking that are past where CENTCOM is often focused..

Book not ISIS but great hx. Abraham: A Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths, Bruce Feiler... also movie Lawrence of Arabia.
