To learn it is best to use the manual mode and look at tutorials to get a better understanding of the different techniques that are out there to use, each and ever different lens will give you more optionsResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 5 at 2016 10:45 PM2016-07-05T22:45:20-04:002016-07-05T22:45:20-04:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member1692144<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Canon7D here...rocking the manual button mostly. The nickel a photo I charged<br />my teammates paid for all my nights of revelry those two years. On my first ship I lucked into<br />a deal through the supply officer for a new Minolta SRT-101. Bought a telephoto lens and<br />filters for it in Mauritius. Years later, upgraded the body to a Minolta 9000 (pro model). Since then, <br />I have upgrade twice to Sony - now a Sony Alpha A33 which is mirrorless.Response by PO1 Tony Holland made Jul 6 at 2016 4:59 AM2016-07-06T04:59:07-04:002016-07-06T04:59:07-04:00SPC Tony Fewell1692944<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have a Nikon D300, have had it for about 7 years now and I live it, it is reliable and sturdy. It has been all over the world with me from the Middle East, Africa, Australia, Papua New Guinea. I have literally taken hundreds of thousands of pictures with it. It is excellent. When it comes to cameras you just have to find one that you like, it is like cars, some like Fords, Chevy, Dodge, some like Canon, Nikon, or Sony. I personally like Nikon, but I have friends who swear by Canon. They all have their good points, it depends to on what you plan to do with it. Just study and research.Response by SPC Tony Fewell made Jul 6 at 2016 8:56 AM2016-07-06T08:56:52-04:002016-07-06T08:56:52-04:00PO2 Katie Benson1693812<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I love my Nikon D5000Response by PO2 Katie Benson made Jul 6 at 2016 1:37 PM2016-07-06T13:37:05-04:002016-07-06T13:37:05-04:00CPT Tom Fawls1695155<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm using a Canon 5D MkIII...but before I was able to con my wife into letting me buy two of these overpriced status symbols, I've used the Canon EOS 6 and EOS T6 and both were wonderful!Response by CPT Tom Fawls made Jul 6 at 2016 10:54 PM2016-07-06T22:54:20-04:002016-07-06T22:54:20-04:00MSgt Mark Bucher1721132<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I shoot Olympus. Reason for that is when I retired, no branch in the DoD used Olympus so I could never be accused of lifting equipment when I retired. The longer I shoot images, the more convinced I become that it's the person behind the viewfinder that makes the photograph, not the equipment.Response by MSgt Mark Bucher made Jul 15 at 2016 7:47 PM2016-07-15T19:47:20-04:002016-07-15T19:47:20-04:00Sgt Christian ORourke1744058<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I spent a massive amount of research on this, and went with the Pentax KS2. It was reasonably priced , and the only camera I can use vintage lenses on. No other camera will allow you to do that, not that I have found. Has to do with the sensors NOT being inside the lenses, or something like that. But it works and I love it. You get some great pictures from old lenses. Plus, I get them dirt cheep, like 4 dollars cheep.Response by Sgt Christian ORourke made Jul 23 at 2016 7:58 PM2016-07-23T19:58:56-04:002016-07-23T19:58:56-04:00SSG Byron Howard Sr4077252<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I learned it's all personal preference.
