I also started eating smaller portions more often, such as a meal every 4 hours - which kept my metabolism high. Always eat breakfast as well. Do not eat anything 2 hours before bed. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day (I drink a gallon). With Insanity, be sure to focus on FORM first. This is a high intensity program - however you will see incredible results! Krueger Strength can be effective, I've heard good things about Vinsanity Shred (going to try that one soon), I enjoyed insanity it takes a huge toll on the body though and isn't a long term answer to fitness. It is a good jumpstart into fitness. The Body Coach is an effective program for a busy lifestyle and has meal prep factor too. You can get a taste for all of these by looking them up on youtube. Cater your training program to them. Basic thought, a triathlete's training program will not be the same as a bodybuilder. You have your strength training to help build strength, tone and size (depending on who you are). With the HIIT/TABATA it also gets your heart pumping, helps fat loss, increases endurance and flexibility.

Another thing, your kitchen is also a fitness training program. You have to fuel your machine for which you need to make good choices on food. You can't make 6-pack abs in the gym; they are made in the kitchen. I am currently doing crossfit and it has helped me get back in excellent shape, but I think any fitness program will do that for you as long as it gets you off the couch and you continually do it(except Army PRT of course). While a solid program is a good motivator to keep you going if you train hard but eat like crap your'e still going to get crap results. If you asked a more specific question i.e. How do I get ripped, or build muscle, mass etc like that, then it's easier to answer as there a programs out there to use as a baseline for you to try but ultimately you tailor them to your needs and liking.
