What are the steps to become an AIT instructor?

I am quickly approaching my DEROS, and if I do not get picked up for warrant officer in March, I need a plan for furthering my career.

What are the pre-requisites to being assigned at the school house? Are there courses I need to complete prior to requesting a position? Do I need to cordinate with the school house to obtain an instructor position?

I’ll ask my PLT SGT and 1SG they both were instructors at Davis hall sergeant

You just call your branch. Even if you are planning on getting picked up for warrant you need to start the process of your enlisted move. Once you're 6 months from DEROS you'll be placed on assignment and it will be too late to change that. Conversely, if you have orders to be an instructor and you get picked up for warrant, that will trump anything else.

Things that will help you out is going to the two week course if you are close to a facility that teaches it. It used to be called army basic instructor course don’t remember the name now. Next follow what SFC Boyd said and contact branch, another option I’ve seen work is contacting the schools unit but you may be a little light on rank to pull that one.
