I believe that is too easy, it's exactly what he wants... to be a martyr. I'd keep him locked up for the rest of his natural life.

I think it's the right decision. The mother of one of his victims has it right (in the video): he's an unrepentant murderer. Brutal.

I think a nice long life of sponge baths as his paralyzed body atrophies away is a far more fitting punishment. He deserves to die a long, slow death, forgotten by everyone. He should go out in a wimper, not as a martyr.

I want to say that he should be put to death but I agree with some here that he's already in a living hell and should remain in that state. He's paralyzed, has no control over his body, and is basically dependent on the very types of people he murdered. Giving him death is giving what he wants (and what they think would make him a martyr). Let him rot where he is in my opinion.

Let the sentence be carried out by firing squad by the families of the victims. If we made executions happen in a shorter period after conviction and do to the people what they did to their victims, we might see less of these crimes.

Seriously, he took the same oath we all did, and he murdered his fellow soldiers. Forget about lethal injection, forget about the chair....just put a bullet in his brain already. He's a cockroach, and needs to be stepped on.

SPC(P) Jay Heenan I think the people who got hurt in the shooting and the family members would fight to see who can flip the switch or inject the guy. Personally I will be happy once he is gone and that portion can be closed.

In his sick mind, that will only make him a martyr. I have a hard time forgetting that the powers that be tried to label the events as "workplace violence." Let him languish in prison without access to the media and I hope he lives a long life. The mere image of him makes me want to vomit.

I agree. But, nothing can fix the the pain, suffering, and impact this idiot had.

I am sad that no was smart enough to call him before he attacked. I am just sad it took so long for the Soldiers and families to recognized (luckily they finally will be), and I am sad that our current administration has hard time calling terrorism, terrorism... domestic or otherwise.

He deserves it, but I doubt he will actually see it. He probably will have at least 30 years of appeals and clemency hearings. Most likely he will succumb to his injuries in that time.

I think it's about 5 years late. If one person would have been authorized to carry in that deployment center, he would have been put to death in 2009.

I don't agree with it. Although the government is paying for him to stay alive, that should be his punishment. Let him live out a long and painful life as he watches and hears how the families of the victims he took from them have moved on and are surviving. Sentencing him to death is giving him exactly what he wants, to die a martyr

Good, kill him as soon as able. Let's add some Roman Damnatio memoriae on top. We can learn from the attack how to modify our own TTPs but we will forget him, his legacy, his name. We will purge them from our history. From this day forth we call him "the Fort Hood Shooter" only.

What lesson do we learn? The Armed Forces should be armed.

I think the only reason why Routh didn't get death for killing Chris Kyle and Littlefield was because there was some bi-polar issues. I think that was possibly the doubt that took the death penalty off the table and that's disappointing. Both of these stories are tragic.

I say give him a sex change and send him to ISIS after we cut out his tongue making him unable to speak!!!! My unit lost 2 Soldiers in his shooting spree... We were in Afghanistan, so you can imagine our feelings when we found out we lost 2 of our own to a state side "work place violence".... We were devastated... So I have some really strong feelings with this... But I think that would be the best form of punishment..

We all knew this was coming but it was long overdue. I would have prefered firing squad or electric chair to lethal injection. And even though I know this is cruel and unusual, I wouldn't mind if he got life along with paralysis from the neck down. Paralyisis from the waist down is just too lenient in my opinion.

I have other Ideas, but they aren't exactly in the mainstream of correctional custody thought lines.
I would bet that there are any number of incident survivors or their families who would like to individually explore his point of view on his actions, and of course, share their own.

But as that is unlikely, we've spent enough time and money on him. Be done with it.

1. Make him shave
2. Shave 2x per day
3. Feed him pork, 3 meals a day
4. Someone buy that poor guy a pet....he will be lonely in prison....may I suggest a pet pig or 2?? Need to train the pig that his face is their "litterbox" and that they need to sit on his lap him whenever possible...maybe snuggle up to him in bed kind of like the cat or dog does for other people....
5. If hanging, use a pig intestine rope
6. if death by firing squad, roll the bullet in pig fat, roll HIM in pig fat, then pull trigger....
7. If by lethal injection, include just a dollop of pig fat in advance of the drugs.

Thinking that nothing is too good for him!
