What does a reenlistment code "RE-3B" mean?

I do not have this RE code but was reading the codes and this one stumpeoed me the most. It states, "Individuals who have time lost during their last period of service".
What does "time lost" mean. How does one even achieve that in Active Duty or Reserves? Look forward to your answers!

Usually means AWOL, desertion, jail, etc. Basically, you didn't show up when you were supposed to for the Army.

Time lost refers to incarcerated time or AWOL time

RE 3B is a code that states you are ineligible for reenlistment at time of separation. You will have to petition a waiver to reenlist. Hard to get these days. Will be based off what you did to have lost time and actions that led to the determination of the RE Code.

I have 9 days missed on my DD214 and an RE 3B due to having gone on a drinking binge upon my discharge from the hospital due to being wounded in Vietnam we called them booby traps. Big regret

My DD214 characterizes my service as Honorable, and lists my reenlistment code as 3B; this code was the result of my requesting separation due to financial hardship. I was 17 years old when I became a marine, a husband and a father and the pay, even with BAQ & BAS, was wholly inadequate to support my family.

What if they had a JKQ seperation. Could they reenlist. I did find out that with a JKQ SEPERATION you dont qualify for military burial.

RE-3B’s reference to “lost time” refers to the amount of active duty time (or reserve time) that the individual receiving a “Hardship discharge” failed to serve receiving an “early” discharge from service

I got a honorable discharge from the Navy in 1980 because of pregnancy. And the code on my DD214 was RE-3B. I had served 19 months and was having a hard time because I was carrying twins. I was told that I could have my babies at a military hospital but after that I wasn't eligible for any benefits. I had a condition while on active duty but because I did not have access to healthcare the problem only got worst. I ended up with cancer because I was denied medical treatment.
