It says that he is someone his people are proud of. That distinction should be a goal of any leader IMHO.

Having researched him a bit, I think King A. actually understands what being a Monarch is about.

He is not just a "Representative" Head of State, but the actual Embodiment of the Nation of Jordan. I think he takes it seriously. The citizens aren't subjects to him, but are extensions of him. He cares for them as he cares for himself.

He's a military man because that's how he can serve his People.

As others have said, he's a Leader. Capital L, Leader.

It's too bad we don't see this in our own leaders. Of late that is. We have had some Presidents who have been in the military, the most recent was George W Bush, if you count his Air National Guard service. I know many don't but I do. President Bush cared about our troops. While I have never met him, i have met other service members who have and they spoke highly of him.

My brother who is now a retired NYC Fire Marshal met him when Bush was seeking reelection. He spent two hours with about 75 firefighters along with Condaleeza Rice and a couple other big shots. He said Bush was a gentleman and cared about the fire fighters and actually listened to them. Attached pic is my brother and Bush. My brother had just handed President Bush his daughters CD and Bus responded, "This could be her lucky break!"
