What funding options are available to veterans to assist with starting a business?

I retire in just over a year and have a guy that I can start a really good sought after business with in the local community. The problem is it looks lie we are going to need close to a million bucks to start this. What avenues of funding are available to veterans to assist with starting a business?

Since you aren't going to get to $1M overnight, and you can file to incorporate for just a few hundred, why don't you create the business shell, open a bank account for it, and each put in a few hundred. Before the year is up you'll know a lot more about your potential partner.

One thing you could do is get in touch with your local SCORE. SCORE is the Service Corps of Retired Executives. They can help you with almost every part of a business start up.
