Your scores (assuming you can maintain that 8 min/mile pace) would give you 88 points for push ups, 84 points for sit ups and 95 points for the run. Total of 267. Not too shabby to start. As a young LT, one of the places you can stand out is through PT. Your soldiers don't know you or how good at your job you are going to be...but they can see that you are physically fit and it makes a good first impression. I'd tell you to get a 300. Work on it. You have to do PT, but do it on your own and make fitness a lifestyle. The Army demands that you do PT, but the PT you are going to do is only going to maintain what you have. In order to get better, you have to do more...and like it. The body is an amazing machine and it can generally do anything you tell it to at your age. If you punish it, it will only get harder and stronger. Faster and leaner. Want to really get in decent shape? Joint the Ranger Challenge team at your ROTC. At a minimum, a LT should be able to get a 270 on the PT test. 300 is the goal. Ended maxing my situps, killing my pushups, and uh... passing my run. Youre in much better shape than I was, and now am haha. This is a great starting place but don't be content with it. If you're starting there, with more work, you can be among the high scorers in your unit.
