What is it like in the Space Force for lower enlisted or for other service members coming from branches other than Air Force?

Got my whole packet done within my shift today including an interview with my commander. Got the green light and packet was submitted, I know it isn’t a guarantee to change over but at least a good step. Does anyone know what it’s like in the Space Force for lower enlisted or for other service members coming from branches other than Air Force? Or any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

The number of bases will be somewhat smaller. There's a couple in CA, and a few in CO, plus one in FL. There might be a few more. If you're in Security Forces, you could get an even shot at any of them. Your specialty might be key.

You got to get out there and scrub the space barnacles off the ships. Wait hand and foot for some Star Trek wearing officer at the Galactic Space Bar, and go on wild goose chases for Flux Capacitors, galactic grid squares, and other stuff. You will be a gopher.

I enjoy the humorous comments, but SSgt Addison R. has the best answer. Remember Space Force relies on the Air Force for many support functions. Compared to Army installations I’ve been on, Air Force Bases have newer and better maintained quarters, dining facilities, AAFES stores, and recreation facilities. Contractors do the landscaping, cook meals, and maintain the buildings.

If you continue in IT, you’ll do many of the same jobs as Army IT personnel at the installation level. Work uniforms are about the same as Air Force and Army. Service dress is Air Force with extra lapel devices, but still simpler than Army Service Dress.

You’ll probably get caught up in all the extra stuff jr enlisted do on any installation or unit. You’ll still get voluntold for special projects and suffer through required fun.

I would suspect that aside from engineering and security, holodeck maintenance would be a top priority.

It’s the same as it is for similar MOS’s for the other branches. For reference you could probably ask all the people that worked with Space Command within the Airforce. I have a few friends that switched over and the only change was the color of the name tape thread and their patches.

Sorry most replies are either from people that refuse to let jokes die or still don’t understand what the space force is meant to do. Restructuring systems for budgeting and efficiency purposes confuses some people.

I'd love to tell you that the military is the military and it doesn't matter what branch you are in but it is hard to say these days.
