I think it all really depends on not only the person but the company. A few things I ask myself before considering moving to a new position beside what is the pay increase are:
* What is the current business position of that company?
* Is there room within that company to expand in a few years or will I be left looking again in a few months?
* How can working for that company help me professionally grow when compared to those opportunities at my current position?

Yes, of course more money is always nice but sometimes a few extra dollars are given in trade for other limitations so it is never a cookie cutter style answer.

I would say that depends on the individual. Just my opinion. If it what you are doing does not work, stop and do something else.

I know that for myself, keeping my family in our home, among friends, neighbors and family, is critical. I would take a significant reduction in salary to keep our roots down if possible.

So, I am fast approaching my retirement. I can't get out of here fast enuf!! I moved my wife and daughter ahead of me to the retirement location and will find employment when I get there!

If you have options go for the dough. As most career military (and civilian jobs) moving is a real pain in the butt.

This really depends on what you want. If you really love where you are located then stick around but if you want a job that you love you may have to move to get it.

It absolutely depends on the family situation - kids in school? parents in good health? etc etc. And everything is always subject to change in the next day.

Could be the circumstance or the situation. "supply and demand"
