What is some good beginner study material for 25B?

I’m prior service reclassing into 25B, I’m looking for some study material so that I can be ahead of the game, not going til later this year so I have some time. Also was wondering what AIT is like for reclassing. I was a 13B and AIT was very much like basic with a little more freedom.

Welcome to the Signal Corps. To get ahead of the game, I'd recommend starting out with a Computer Fundamentals type book from your local library. I don't know your level of computer knowledge, but you should also develop a working familiarity with MS-DOS, Windows XP, Windows 10, Unix (command line and GUI) and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.) It's better to know it already than to have to learn it as you're going.

Along those lines, it wouldn't hurt to look into a number of Exam Cram books (A+, Network+, Security+ and Cisco) Also, pick up a Network Fundamentals book. They'll cover all of that in your MOS training and eventually, you'll most likely take certification testing in at least some of those (definitely A+ and N+.) There's also free online training you can take. It's easy enough to find.

The Fort Gordon/Augusta, GA area is hellishly humid in the summer. Be prepared. The winter's not that bad if you're from the North. Research the area before you show up. Check out the Fort Gordon website for newcomer information and things to do. PT test shortly after you get there. You know the deal.

If they're still running things the same as when I was on the platform, then the prior service personnel will be kept separate from the IET students. You won't be treated like a Private. For the most part, Signal is MUCH more relaxed than a B-series MOS. You'll have more freedom. Just don't get in trouble messing with the IET soldiers. i mean that in EVERY way it can be taken.

It's like a PT test. Work hard to prepare for it and you'll cruise right on through.

A lot of emphasis is placed on Networking in AIT. Picking up a CompTIA A+,Net+, and Security + book will help (or download them on your phone via the app store). They also use Cisco systems for the networking classes, so pick up a CCENT or CCNA book if you can. It's a lot to soak in while you're there. I suggest at minimum, learning A+ and Net+. If you understand those, you'll be able to pick up everything else rather easily. Good luck!

They will teach you everything you need to know there. However basic switch and router commands, basic setup of exchange and domains in windows server, ccna 1 and ccna 2. Subnets and vlsm just to get your feet wet

It's pretty much a gentleman's course. Go to class, the rest is yours to study or do whatever.
