The premium account is totally worth it if you use it correctly. The biggest advantage it gives you is in their job board you can highlight your resume once you submit your application. This gives you another tool to help you standout among your peers.

It is useful if you are looking for a job, or searching for candidates, mainly because of the unlimited in-mails. I picked it up through the "free year" listed elsewhere, and so far they have renewed every year.

I took the one year free upgrade so I could connect with other like minded people, veterans or not, to grow my network and meet new people. In doing so, I've been able to refer others to services, jobs, and customers I would have otherwise never known of.

I suggest you maximize your free membership then consider paid membership. LinkedIn should grant you a year of Premium for free as a military member or veteran. I can look into it but ask them!

My experience was not good. It was expensive and the only thing I got was inundated with spam email and a lot of bogus job leads. The leads usually turned out to scam artists. I hope others have a good experience but it took me a year to find a job and a few months of that year I wasted following the unattainable carrot dangled in front of me from LinkedIn "leads".
