What are the best pieces of non-standard equipment that you have been issued in the past? And if you know it, what was the NSN# for those of us that may want to try to get it in the future?

Benchmade automatic folding knife. You can never have too many knives, especially a truly good one.

Last deployment to Afghanistan we're issued Combat pants with built in knee pads. Great pants loose fitting and very comfortable even with the built in knee pad.
