What is the best way to preserve a WWII uniform?

During a conversation with my mom, I mentioned that at some point I would like the shadow boxes containing both of my Grandfather's medals from WWII. She then asked me if I would like my grandfather's army uniform. Of course I said yes. Now I am concerned about how to preserve it. Does anybody have any suggestions?

You might contact some local museums and see if they have any tips about preserving clothes of that era. That would be my first start anyways.

Are you going to display them? Maybe make a bigger shadow box with the uniform in it? You might even ask some professional suit cleaners what their thoughts are on if you should clean it or not.

Just some questions that popped into my head. Don't know if they will help or not.
