What is the cheapest way to get Microsoft Office?

I tried going through CHESS (asc.army.mil), but no luck.

The deal for 2019 edition for $20 ended a while back. Now it's a 30% discount on Office 365, that's still $70 for a year. Not bad at all, but cheaper is better. Any help?

I quit using MS Office when I learned that most things there could be done on Google Drive for free.

I won't pay for annual subscription to a program which should be purchased one time for a fixed fee.

If you do MS Office as a SaaS you never have to worry about upgrading it. Ever.

MS offers a discounted home version office bundle for military and students for about $10. You’ll have to dig around a bit to find the link, but essentially you just use your official email as proof

Free Office
LibreOffice
Open Office
All free to download and use, compatible with MS.
Google Docs if you don't want to download.

All versions take a little tweaking to get your letterhead and memo format correct.

Unless there's a specific function or utility of Office 365 that's requiring you to use it, have you looked into LibreOffice? It's a free and open-source office suite that works on Windows/Linux/MacOS. It supports Microsoft file types (.docx, xlsx, pptx, etc.) but isn't a 100% perfect replacement.

I believe there is an Open Office program, you can find it through Google. I actually use Google docs and sheets.
