I retired out of the Reserves. On weekend drill, much of the basic soldier skills are covered; everything from motor stables, to CBR training and maintaining or 201 files. Some drill weekends are task specific with training scenarios based upon theater of alignment, as well as for the areas of current conflict. To include reacting to ambush, IED, etc etc..

As for deployment from a Reserve Unit to an Operational Area, you will have a more rigorous process. S1 is critical to ensure records and all related packets are complete to ensure a smooth process and transition. You would deploy to a site specific training area, demonstrate proficiency with your assigned weapon, update medical, receive more cultural and climatic briefings and training, before transitioning down range.

But back to garrison/drill hall; Soldiers skills training makes a bulk of the activities as well as semi-annual APFT/ACFT, and annual weapons qualification. along with all the maintenance tasks necessary.

Deployments, are a different subject as teams within CA Battalions and Detachments/Companies have differing mission assignments and skillsets.

The 2 Active Duty Battalions will have personnel with differing perspectives from mine. However there are many things common across the Army. SFC Quinn Chastant Mon, 09 Sep 2019 11:43:18 -0400 2019-09-09T11:43:18-04:00 2019-09-09T05:09:08-04:00
