When using that method along with your MDMP to develop a plant to accomplish your METL tasks you will come up with solutions to most of your problems without using as many acronyms. However, NCO's, WO and Officers often describe most things in acronyms to make life easier. For instance if I was setting up an LZ outside of my AO I would use my LP's and OP's and forward PB's to ensure enemy in the area don't have AA assets to compromise the mission..
As you can see above I have a sense of humor 2LT Loomis.
In short, there is no easy way since EVERYTHING in the military is made into the acronym.. You are either good at remembering them or your not. the ones you use for your MOS will become second nature to you rather quickly.
good luck Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 9 at 2015 7:45 PM 2015-01-09T19:45:57-05:00 2015-01-09T19:45:57-05:00 TSgt Joshua Copeland 410347

google-fu! Since its creation, I have been a active users of acronymfinder.com website. Every time I introduce a new soldier or civilian to the site they are amazed at the accuracy... And quantity... Of the lexicon of acronyms throughout society. Even the tab for military.

As far as learning them... I stick to the realm of operations I'm in and unless I memorize them...got to write them down and keep a cheat sheet.

Remember though, an acronym is something that can be made into a word.. Such as DIME or a quasi sounding word like MIPR or METT-TC.... Then there are initialism like DTS, PMCS, ABCS, VTC... You get the idea.

Enjoy and hope it helps! Response by 1SG Cameron M.
