Care about your Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines. That's it. If you can do that, the rest will fall into place.

Listen.  Listen to your subordinates.  Listen to your peers.  Listen to your seniors.  Listen to you mentor(s).  Then act.

I completely agree, I have often seen people come up with the answer to their problem by getting to be with a good listener.

There are a lot of great responses on here so far and there are so many others to choose from. I think that I will go with patience. Patience in everything that you do. Patience in listening, acting, providing counsel or advice, determining COAs, etc. You can't go wrong with utilizing patience. You can definitely go way wrong without it...
