What is the likelihood of deploying while stationed in Korea? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-likelihood-of-deploying-while-stationed-in-korea <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>What are the odds I catch a deployment during my time in Korea? I just came down on orders to the 11th engineers in camp humphreys. Like most of us in this era I’ve been in 4 years with no deployment and don’t know if I plan on staying in after my tome there. It’s to my understanding that they’re relatively short staffed in Korea so it makes me think maybe I won’t be able to get one there. Can anyone with some more incite tell me what the likelihood of deploying while stationed there is? No combat deployments. 2ID is based out of korea but has some units in JBLM. The JBLM units deploy sometimes. But not often. Basically, you’re not getting a deployment from korea. That Brigade did not go back to Korea, it was moved CONUS afterward. I would not bet on being deployed. In Korea you are technically forward deployed. Korea is considered forward deployed or forward stationed already. The one time they did deploy the Brigade in Korea the Army was in a massive surge and had deployed just about every other BCT, NG, and USAR unit they had at that point and were trying to give other units a break between rotations. You will go to Korea and then be returned to a CONUS duty station that could be deployed. Or you could reenlist for a different location. Your choice. Yeah, well you got 18 hours to deploy. 2nd ID is right there with many of the bases in artillery range of NK. Our call back time was 30 minutes and moving out of our base and into our combat assembly area within an hour. Servicemembers who served during an Armistice Agreement are entitled to the Korea Defense Service Medal. The Korea Defense Service Medal was authorized for those members of the United States Armed Forces who served in South Korea in support of the defense of South Korea after the signing of the Armistice Agreement. It validates the Korean War is a ceasefire since no treaty has been signed by either country. It also clarifies during the ceasefire servicemembers maintain an abnormally high degree of readiness. Under 10 U.S. Code § 7286 - Korea Defense Service Medal; The Secretary of the Army shall issue a campaign medal, to be known as the Korea Defense Service Medal. The Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) was also authorized for Korean DMZ duty from 4 January 1969 to 31 March 1994. An estimated 1,200 members of the United States Armed Forces died as a direct result of their service in Korea since the cease-fire agreement in July 1953, and individuals captured by North Korea are considered POWs. Prior to 08&#39; a friend of mine got deployed to Iraq, and my whole brigade, 2nd Brigade Combat Team from Camp Hovey deployed to Iraq; most of us had over 5 months in Korea, some had almost a year we all got sent and eventually we all did our year in Iraq and then sent over to Fort Carson, Colorado.
