What is the name of the country that you serve?

If you lived in France then you would say France not the France. If you lived in Germany then you would say Germany not the Germany. Some say that it is the "United States", that is what the map says. On the Organization of American States it reads "United States of America". When you are a civilian, they ask if you are US Citizen at the borders. On your tax returns you check off US Citizen. In the Articles of Confederation 1781, it clearly stated that the stile of this Confederacy shall be "The United States of America".

If the country's name is The United States of America then why would you shorten the name unless you were hiding something? Was the name changed.....ABSOLUTELY! In the US Constitution it was changed to "the United States of America" and "the united States of America". So i ask you again, what is the name of the country that you serve? Don't you think that it might matter to you?

Actually, Germany's formal name is Der Bundesrepublik Deutchland, or The Federal Republic of Germany.

When I look down at my Service Dress jacket lapels, they say "U.S." in shiny metal, so I am ok with that. As long as someone doesn't seriously call it "Murca" in front of me, I am fine with any variant. :)

Your looking at it the wrong way. It's called the United States because it is clearly stating that each state is separate. It's important to not because united it makes up the country but you are technically not American you are from the respective state you are born in. That's the reason for state specific birth certificates. It's only America to aliens. Lol I'm just talking bs

I am disappointed that "Murca wasn't an option so I opted for The United States of America instead.
