SPC Jesse L 7692284

I did my 4 on active and have been in USAR for over 3 years now. I signed up for USAR before I ets'd and been attempting to make this work. But so far it has been going terribly for me professionally and emotionally. I haven’t even gone to MOSQ school and they expect me to go with like 6 months left on my contract? I really was hoping they’d send me before I ETS’d but they didn’t instead they are sending me at the end. I have a job and responsibilities now and I am getting sick of asking my boss to take days/time off to do reserve stuff.. I am absolutely done being stuck as a specialist because I am not MOSQ/non promotable having to deal with reservist puffed up people… What is the process to transfer from USAR to IRR and how fast can it be done? 2022-05-23T19:54:11-04:00 SPC Jesse L 7692284

I did my 4 on active and have been in USAR for over 3 years now. Because you contacted to complete your 4 year service obligation in the USAR, you would only be able to request a voluntary IRR transfer - this has to get approved at every level of your chain of command and usually takes months to process.

The packet is relatively simple: 4651, Soldier Statement (why you want to leave), chain of command recommendation (usually 4187), exit counseling from commander and exit counseling from a career counselor.

You could look at transfering to another unit that has a battle assembly schedule that would work better with your job. You say you only go 9 months to go, well one way or another you will do the 9 months. When I went IRR, I was there one month, gone the next. Just make sure you got all your ducks in a row.
