If not you will need a conditional release from your unit, you will need to speak to a National Guard Recruiter as well. Also, keep in mind that since you’re an E5 your recruiter will need to find you a unit with an available E5 slot. Requires an approved DD368 conditional release from the COS, USARC, with a DA4187 endorsement from your chain of command. Good Luck with that, it is hard enough for a USAR Soldier to get a conditional release approved to enlist Regular Army. Might be harder to justify your request to be released from your contract to enlist in another part time component. But, talk to your chain of command about the conditional release process and go from there. Be prepared for a lengthy wait for an answer. That will get the process moving right along for you.
