TRADOC is responsible for training soldiers and develops and publishes all doctrine used by the Army. So all the FM’s, ATP’s, ADRP’s, etc are written and developed by TRADOC. Essentially they are responsible for developing and maintaining the institutional knowledge of the Army. If you’re assigned to TRADOC you could be doing anything from training recruits at BCT, training officers at OCS or any of the BOLC’s, serving as support personnel or working in the various departments that develop tactics. Throughout your career and everyone else’s they will pass through TRADOC multiple times as they advance throughout their careers. Without knowing specifically where you are going, I can’t tell you what to expect or what your experience will be like. Just know that in some way you will be supporting or training Soldiers at all levels, across the entire Army. I attend as many BIFV schools as your leadership allows. I’d also ask to do a ride along at both NTC and JRTC. Expeditionary operations inside a maneuver unit is demanding. You’ll get a ton of perspectives at the CTCs in a short amount of time. I’d learn all I could on network architecture down to unit MTOEs. Remember your first day there starts the count down to getting back to a line unit. High expectations.
