What is your best RallyPoint Story?

RallyPoint has been around for a long time now. I had the honor of visiting the RallyPoint HQ recently and got a chance to really reflect on all the stories and some characters of RallyPoint. What is a story that stands out when you think of RallyPoint. Mine is, of course, the Saluting LT question. That question will always be remembered with infamy.

I think what is great about this question is that for those of us that been here since Day 1 or so, it makes us recall some of the great interactions of old. I look back to PRx and getting the opportunity to meet CPT Private RallyPoint Member, 1SG Private RallyPoint Member, LTC Yinon Weiss and so many others. I remember how the site was at first and amazed by how far we came. Anyone remember the first beta app for mobile devices?!

I was on RallyPoint around 0600, just starting to take my first sip of coffee, when I stumbled upon a new post. I quickly realized that there was nothing normal about this post. It was a cry for help, possibly even a suicide note. I immediately contacted the RallyPoint Admin, the member's contacts, and messaged the member directly myself. Our full attention was on that post and making sure we kept the member online. Over the next hour the community had come together, showered the member in their support, and got in contact with other RallyPoint members in the area. Members in the area were able to go to the OPs residence, talk with the OP, and get the them the help they needed. The OP is now seeing a therapist and is doing much better.

There are too many stories to count... I have had many good laughs! The Saluting LTs was definitely the funniest of all time (as well as its variations). It's not just the humorous posts, however. There are many stories that are definitely thought provoking as well. The one I remember well (though I forgot the question) is the one where one particular SSG who set the record for the most thumbs-down responses on a post (he had over 600). I kind a feel bad for him, but he was entitled to his opinion...

CPT Private RallyPoint Member - I must say I have three favorite stories - (1) reconnecting with many former and current colleagues who I would never have seen again if it were not for RallyPoint, (2) a few new colleagues who have chosen to pursue their education through graduate school and residency to become practicing doctors, lawyers, etc - because they were inspired by former military colleagues on Rallypoint, and (3) the opportunity to make contact and make difference for RallyPoint colleagues in personal crises. Not so much a story but a great pleasure meeting some fine folks. While in DC visiting my son SSG Steven Borders I got to meet PV2 Private RallyPoint Member 1SG Michael Blount CW5 Jim Steddum SGT Kristin Wiley CW3 Private RallyPoint Member. My biggest regret is missing a possible chance of meeting the famous CPT Private RallyPoint Member of 'Saluting LT' question fame while he was here in Spokane. The great people here on Rally Point is one of our greatest assets! I salute you all, great job!!!
