For many of the jobs I applied to, I had some experience but not 5-7 years of experience. Education is another. Of you want to do an occupation that you do not have experience or an education in then you must go to school. You must find an intership unless you have properly networked. There's a lot of good information in the class, but there's not enough time to go in detail in any specific area. Smaller or more personalized class sizes will allow instructors to target the focus areas the individuals need the most. I left ACAP with a resume that they helped me build and at the time I felt pretty good about it. After months of unsuccessfully looking for work a friend led me to a non-profit civilian transition program that totally reworked my resume and gave me a bunch of other career coaching. With their help I was able to land and interview and a job pretty quickly. It is obvious that the folks at ACAP (or whatever it is called now) are completely out of touch with the civilian job market.
