What is your favorite MOS, AFSC, Rate/NEC? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-your-favorite-mos-afsc-rate-nec

I did search to make sure I was not repeating a post, I did not find any, but if I am I apologize.

So any way. Of all the jobs, MOS's, AFSC's, rate's etc that everyone has had what was your favorite and why?

I started out as a 902 Medical Services Specialist in the Air Force for a year and a half, then transferred to Civil Engineering as a 571 Fire Protection Specialist. I enjoyed my time as a firefighter, I had a great Fire Chief/NCOIC, and I was able to travel the world.

When I affiliated with the Navy I did so as a Hospital Corpsman.

My favorite though has been my billetts as a Senior Enlisted Leader. I take being the voice of the crew very important, and being able to shape and guide my Sailors. There is certainly nothing better than seeing your Sailors succeed especially when they advance to Chief Petty Officer themselves. After graduation I joined the Air Force and sought a career as a critical care nurse. So I am now a M46N3E which is a certified critical care nurse. I must say it's had it's ups and downs, but I love it! I had the opportunity/honor to deploy and care for many critically injured wounded warriors. I wouldn't change a thing! I was 11B, Infantry, for four years, and then 97B, Counterintelligence, for 26 years of active duty. I enjoyed both, but I enjoyed CI more than infantry. That said, I highly recommend a tour in a combat arms MOS for all Soldiers. It grounds a person, teaches them about the "real Army." And I am aware that many who are not combat arms object to that term, but in my experience, it's a valid term and a valid point.

I know SFC Boots Attaway agrees with me on this point. We served together in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, which was during my first four years as an infantryman. Marine Corpsman all the way. Toughest of the tough in the Navy. All boasting aside, I love my rate because I feel like I've been accepted into a tight brotherhood. I feel more accepted as Marine "Doc". Marines love me and tell me they would die for me, and I feel the same. I couldn't imagine being anything else. I love helping people and my Marines treat me like one of them.
