In an ideal world, politicians would be men and women of conviction and would vote and govern according to their convictions, not based on a poll. I think there's way too much of that in government, and it seems to be getting worse these days. A politician, regardless of his oe her knowledge will limit the number of toes he steps on and totally avoid offending those that get them in power, Politicians like the fame and perks of office.
