I don't know about "legacy" but I have my "Cold War Certificate". Started my Career in the 70s and finished in the 90s. Took us from the Cold War into the Early War on Terrorism (Before it was Fashionable). When I think of the Cold War. I think of Dr Strangelove (Or How I learned to Love the Bomb). Remember Learning to be on the SAS Team (Authentication for Nuclear Weapons). As a Navy Spook in Alaska remember listening to the Crap Propaganda from Radio Moscow and the Even Worse Crap we put out on Voice of America (Both so Stupid that they were Funny). Remember being the Off-Line Encryption Operator for what later became known as "Blind Mans Bluff". Remember being the Communicator on Duty at CINCPACFLT for the Rescue of Alfa Foxtrot and the time one of our "Telemetry" ships broke down and almost floated into Soviet Territorial Waters. Yeah Been there, Done That.

I hope we left a legacy of excellence, high standards, and a never quit attitude. I served from 1981 to 2003. During that time I saw an aggressive training optempo; the use of ARTEP, BCST, and other training evaluation methods; increased emphasis on joint operations; and increasing reliance on the Guard and Reserves.
