(Long story). So in our 2nd week the Company Commander gets in my face screaming "HE IS A SPY!" Because my Secret clearance had already come through. The rest of my boot camp time was him on my case for everything. So much for "lie low".

Oh, and day before graduation he asks everyone "How many think this was hard?" A number of hands went up. "This was the easiest part of your time in the military." long pause "Especially for you stupid f'n NUKES". lol (I was a nuke). (Nuclear trained operator).

For perspective, he was a Senior Chief Signalman with 28 years in. He had done 3 tours in Viet Nam on "river rats". Took shrapnel in the shoulder and was told he would be medically discharged. He wanted the 30 years so asked for other options. They said he could push boots. Yeh. He LOVED that idea. But he did it. We were his first company. But he took no poop off anybody not even the top ranking officers. Great guy.
