Ft Bragg NC. Hated it for the first 6 months. Then my roomate got a car and off we went. Fell in love with Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach and is still one of the places CONUS where I would consider retiring.

After A School I reported onboard USS Valley Forge (CG-50), she was a pretty new ship at the time, still had a sizeable number of plankowners on the crew. Now she's at the bottom of the ocean.

SFC Private RallyPoint Member My first duty station was MCB Camp Pendleton. I was briefly stationed with the 4th Marine Division Nucleus. At this time, this was a reserve division consisting of 150 active duty Marines. The duty was easy. I volunteered for Vietnam, and the next day my orders were cut. Camp Pendleton is a great place to be stationed.
