When does time in grade start for promotion to 2LT in the Reserves, at commission or when I go to BOLC? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/when-does-time-in-grade-start-for-promotion-to-2lt-in-the-reserves-at-commission-or-when-i-go-to-bolc

Hello all! I had a question regarding promotion. I enlisted in 2012 into the Oregon national guard and did about 6 years before joining ROTC. I do not get O1-E pay because I did not have enough active duty time for it. My question is, will my time in grade start at the start once I commission, or does it start when I go to bolc? is it 18 months after you commission as long as you have bolc complete, or 18 months after you arrive at bolc? I’m in the same boat in regards to not getting the o-1e pay, but being maxed out for years of service is still a solid bump. Your Time in Service is from the time you signed your first National Guard enlistment. Check your total point count. If you have over 1460 retirement points as an enlisted, you still will qualify as O1E.
The regs say "fully qualified" to promote to 1LT. That would seem to indicate that you will have to complete BOLC before you can promote. That is a separate qualification outside of TIG. I commissioned in June and did not attend OBC until Sept and pinned 1LT in March, 18months from the start of my active duty. You are reserves so it will likely be different as it is unlikely you will see 1LT at 18months like we do on the active duty side. Reserves are a bit different and most on here will not have the accurate information you are looking for. Used to be for Reserve promotion it was three years time in grade. AUS promotions went from a low of 12 months to a high of 24 months. A friend of mine, back when it was 12/12/12, left AD as a CPT AUS and was a 1LT with 0 TIG in the Reserves.
